Area Sales Manager - DACH

A leading international manufacturer of packaging automation solutions is seeking an Area Sales Manager to strengthen their presence in the DACH region. This family-owned business has been operating for over 40 years and is recognised for delivering innovative and reliable Automation solutions across multiple markets. Their focus is on flexible and "tough-to-handle" packages, such as bags, pouches, doypacks, that require advanced technologies such as case and tray packing, wrap-around, cartoning and pick and place.

The role involves driving sales growth, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining long-term partnerships with customers. With a consultative sales approach, the ASM will focus on understanding customer needs and creating value-adding proposals. The position requires frequent travel, strong relationship-building skills, and experience in the machinery or automation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Proposals: Develop tailored proposals and solutions that demonstrate a deep understanding of customer needs. Use consultative selling to understand customers packaging line challenges.
  • Account Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships, ensuring loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities.
  • Sales Forecasting: Prepare sales forecasts and budgets using data and market insights.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on sales performance, insights, and recommendations.
  • Customer Engagement: Meet customers regularly through visits, presentations, and events.
  • Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations that balance customer satisfaction with company objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, customer service, and engineering teams to support sales activities.
  • Networking: Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to expand networks and identify opportunities.
  • Customer & Market Development: Drive growth by identifying and developing new customers or markets.

Profile:

  • 5+ years of sales experience in robotics, automation, or complex machinery.
  • Sales experience with end of line, turnkey packaging systems.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Strong interpersonal, relational, and communication skills.
  • Consultative selling mindset with high empathy for customer needs.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (including international travel).
  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth.
  • Analytical and strategic approach to markets and customers.
  • Results-driven with a hands-on mentality.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
