Coles Group is a leading Australian retailer with over 2,500 retail outlets nationally. Coles Group retails a range of fresh food, groceries, general merchandise, liquor, flybuys, financial services, and fuel to 21 million customers weekly through their retail outlets.

Coles Group makes life easier for Australians by delivering quality, value and service. The company processes more than 20 million customer transactions weekly, providing its customers with products from thousands of farmers and suppliers.

CSG Talent began work with Coles Group in early 2016, and the Supply Chain - FMCG recruitment team have been working closely with this client to support their growing business for over seven years. 

Working in Partnership with a Supply Chain Recruitment Specialist

James Slaven, Senior Consultant in Supply Chain Recruitment at CSG Talent specialises in supply chain recruitment and supply chain jobs within the FMCG industry, he initiated a partnership with the Coles Group Human Resources Team.

Coles Group were keen to engage with a recruitment partner who could effectively enhance their hiring strategy within their supply chain, production and planning functions. Many of these positions would be vital to the growth and success of the business. The success of the partnership between Coles Group and CSG Talent would require in-depth understanding of the business and the roles to be recruited.

The Process

CSG Talent conducted an extensive search using our in-house database to find potential candidates who met the client’s requirements and expectations. All candidates contacted had previously engaged with the recruitment team at CSG Talent with a relationship already established, supporting trust and credibility of further roles presented to them.

The FMCG Supply Chain Recruitment team then carried out a detailed market map of the industry which enabled them to identify suitable candidates with the relevant experience, skills and knowledge in demand for the roles at Coles Group. CSG Talent highlighted both passive and active lists of candidates to ensure they had access to the largest pool of talent.

As key point of contact, James Slaven built relationships with candidates to establish their experience, achievements, technical abilities, package expectations and personal circumstances to shortlist the best candidates for Coles Group.

He provided consistent and transparent feedback to the HR team at Coles Group, providing detailed updates on a weekly basis on the hiring process, industry trends, average salaries within the different roles, and insights from candidates.

The Results

Our Supply Chain recruitment team have placed six exceptional candidates in roles at Coles Group. The recruitment team interviewed approximately 30 candidates for each role, before providing a shortlist of the top three candidates to Coles Group, where following the interview process, one candidate was hired for each role. CSG Talent carried out extensive search and assessment of a large pool of candidates, only selecting the most relevant and strongest talent to present to Coles Group, saving a large amount of time in the recruitment process for the client.

Our expert consultants at CSG Talent demonstrated their extensive knowledge and understanding, not only of the supply chain and FMCG industry, but of Coles Group as a business, culture and the roles in the recruitment campaign. With all of this combined, they were able to successfully source and secure the right candidates for the roles, meeting all requirements and sourcing candidates who have been able to add value to Coles Group.
