Role Overview

We are seeking a results-oriented Warehouse Operations & Materials Manager to oversee all material handling and warehouse processes at our facility. This position ensures smooth flow of materials from receiving through production, accurate inventory management, and adherence to food safety and compliance standards.

Please note, this is a Second Shift role (circa 3pm-11pm). The role is located in the Atlanta region, on-site.


Key Responsibilities

1. Material Flow & Operational Efficiency (30%)

  • Manage the movement of raw materials and packaging from receiving to production, including internal transfers, returns, and staging.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to optimize warehouse layout, workflows, and scanning processes.
  • Ensure materials are prepared and staged to meet production schedules and shift demands.

2. Receiving & Compliance Management (20%)

  • Develop and enforce receiving standards, including barcode scanning, lot tracking, pallet verification, and immediate system entry.
  • Maintain full compliance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and other food safety and audit requirements.
  • Monitor scanning accuracy and implement controls to prevent labeling or data errors.

3. Process Improvement & Systems Enhancement (20%)

  • Review warehouse KPIs, inventory turnover, cycle times, and staging delays to find improvement opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives including layout redesign, system upgrades, SOP updates, and visual management solutions.
  • Promote Lean principles and 5S methodology to standardize operations and reduce variability.

4. Kitting & Thaw Operations (15%)

  • Ensure kitting processes are accurate, materials are correctly picked, verified, and staged according to BOM and production needs. You will own knitted from a 24/7 perspective.
  • Oversee thawing processes, enforcing time, temperature, and rotation protocols to ensure readiness for production.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies to reduce downtime and improve material availability.

5. Inventory Management & Compliance (15%)

  • Enforce FIFO and FEFO policies throughout warehouse operations.
  • Use WMS data, cycle counts, and lot tracking to prevent expired stock, minimize waste, and improve traceability.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 15-20 hourly employees via team leads and supervisors.
  • Oversee performance management, hiring, staffing decisions, and employee development.
  • Cultivate engagement, inclusion, and a culture aligned with company values.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, or related field.
  • 7+ years in warehouse operations with 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, multi-temperature environments, or high-volume operations preferred.
  • Strong skills in process optimization, inventory control, and WMS usage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of material flow, warehouse operations, and inventory rotation principles.
  • Expert in FIFO/FEFO practices and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficient with WMS/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, D365, AS400) and barcode scanning technologies.
  • Skilled in Lean tools, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and drive team performance on the floor.
