The Opportunity
We're partnered with a pioneering advanced nuclear energy company at the forefront of developing the next generation of clean, reliable power. As the energy landscape evolves, this organization is helping deliver dependable, always-on carbon-free electricity that supports economic growth while driving the transition to a more sustainable future.
We are seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical structures and components. In this role, you will apply finite element analysis (FEA), engineering calculations, and sound technical judgment to evaluate structural performance, including stress, deformation, fatigue, and thermal effects.
Working closely with design, systems, manufacturing, and project teams, you will help deliver safe, reliable, and manufacturable solutions that meet engineering standards, technical requirements, and project objectives.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis of mechanical components and systems, including pressure vessels, piping, supports, and complex assemblies.
- Develop and review FEA models to assess stress, strain, deformation, fatigue, buckling, thermal effects, and other structural performance requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations and analytical assessments to support design decisions.
- Develop structural analysis methods, load cases, boundary conditions, assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
- Interpret engineering requirements, specifications, drawings, codes, and industry standards.
- Work with design and systems engineers to define structural requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Support component and system design from concept through detailed design, testing, manufacturing, and integration.
- Assess designs for manufacturability, fabrication, assembly, and integration.
- Prepare technical documentation, including calculations, analysis reports, design criteria, and engineering assessments.
- Review and provide technical input on engineering analyses and deliverables produced by other engineers.
- Support testing, qualification, and verification activities as required.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to engineering and project teams.
What You'll Bring
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in structural or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with structural analysis and engineering hand calculations.
- Experience using FEA or structural analysis software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, FEMAP, LS-DYNA, CAESAR, PIPESTRESS, or ROHR.
- Good understanding of structural mechanics, mechanics of materials, and mechanical design.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements, drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with pressure vessels, piping, high-temperature components, or complex mechanical structures.
- Experience with fatigue, fracture mechanics, creep, buckling, or thermal stress analysis.
- Experience developing, reviewing, and interpreting FEA models and results.
- Familiarity with mechanical design and structural integrity codes and standards.
- Experience supporting prototype testing, qualification, manufacturing, or production.
- Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical engineering environment.
Experience Level Requirements
- Level II: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Level III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Level IV: 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Level V: 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
