Our client is a leading food manufacturer sector seeking a proven Senior Quality Manager to join their team.
About this opportunity
The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for managing Food Safety and Quality activities, providing oversight to Quality Control teammates, and ensuring all regulatory and quality requirements are met from raw material receipt through processing to final shipment. The role leads and develops the Quality Control team while maintaining compliance with FSMA, HACCP, FDA, USDA, Organic, and Global Food Safety Standards.
Working with Production and cross-functional teams, the Senior Quality Manager ensures consistent product quality, supports audits and inspections, and drives compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to the Quality Control team, ensuring staff are trained, effective, and aligned with operational needs
Train and develop Quality Control staff technically and professionally, supporting performance management and food safety training
Ensure adequate staffing coverage across production periods and coordinate workload distribution
Oversee process monitoring and product verification activities
Ensure proper identification, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming materials and QC holds
Manage rework processes and coordinate with Production
Investigate customer complaints and perform root cause analysis with corrective and preventive actions
Support FDA, USDA, Organic, Co-Pack, and other audits and inspections
Maintain and review Quality Control documentation and ensure compliance
Ensure proper handling and shipment of product and customer samples
Support Food Safety and HACCP training and assist production teams with quality-related guidance
Participate in production and specification meetings and support cross-functional communication
Report key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics
Your skills and experience
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field preferred
Strong knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, FDA, USDA, Organic certification, and BRC standards
Experience in sanitation practices and quality systems
Strong analytical skills and experience with root cause analysis
Experience using laboratory and quality testing equipment (e.g., pH meter, refractometer, ATP meter)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities
Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and coaching ability
