Senior Process Engineer - Lithium

CSG Talent is working with a growing critical minerals business developing advanced lithium extraction technology for the European battery supply chain.

The company is progressing through an important stage of technical development and industrial scale-up. As part of this growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Process Engineer who can support the development, engineering and delivery of a specialist lithium extraction process package.

This is a hands on technical role suited to someone with experience across lithium processing, hydrometallurgy, process technology, vendor management, commissioning or operational readiness.

The Role

The Senior Process Engineer will support the development and industrialisation of a key lithium extraction process package. The successful candidate will work closely with internal project teams, external engineering partners, technology providers and equipment vendors to ensure the process is technically robust, scalable and ready for future operation.

This role will suit someone comfortable operating at the interface of process engineering, package management, vendors, project delivery and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of a specialist lithium extraction process package.

• Work with technology providers, vendors and engineering partners to review technical documentation and design outputs.

• Contribute to process design, optimisation, scale-up and integration of lithium extraction systems.

• Review PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, equipment specifications, control narratives and process documentation.

• Support vendor discussions, RFQs, technical clarifications, document reviews, FAT/SAT and package delivery.

• Contribute to commissioning planning, operational readiness, SOPs, handover documentation and future start-up preparation.

• Identify and manage technical risks relating to scale-up, process performance, operability, reliability and recovery.

• Work cross-functionally with project, engineering, operations and leadership teams.

• Help ensure the process package is practical to build, commission and operate.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.

• 5-10+ years' experience in process engineering, ideally within lithium, hydrometallurgy, brine processing, battery materials, chemicals or critical minerals.

• Direct lithium experience is essential.

• Experience with advanced lithium extraction technologies, including Direct Lithium Extraction, would be strongly preferred.

• Experience working with process packages, technology packages, vendors or engineering contractors.

• Exposure to commissioning, start-up, operational readiness or plant operations would be highly beneficial.

• Strong understanding of process engineering documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and equipment specifications.

• Experience with vendor document review, technical clarification, RFQs, FAT/SAT or package delivery would be advantageous.

• Comfortable working in a project development environment where technology is being scaled and industrialised.

• Able to communicate effectively with technical, engineering, project and operational stakeholders.
