Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Long Beach, CA.

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing advanced manufacturing business focused on the production of specialised vehicles and related equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to the product, solving practical manufacturing challenges, and helping scale production operations.

This role is highly visible within the business and will play a key part in supporting production growth, developing manufacturing processes, designing tooling and fixtures, and helping shape the future layout and expansion of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes to support increasing production volumes.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, jigs, and shop aids.
  • Support the transition of products from prototype through to full-scale production.
  • Work closely with technicians and production personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Lead manufacturing improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Assist with production floor layout planning and facility expansion projects.
  • Support a wide variety of engineering and manufacturing tasks, from process development to practical workshop improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities and identify opportunities to streamline manufacturing operations.

Required Experience

We are looking for a practical engineer with strong shop-floor credibility and experience within a manufacturing environment.

Applicants should possess experience in several of the following areas:

  • Welding and fabrication processes
  • Machining and workshop equipment, including Bridgeport mills and drilling equipment
  • Tooling, fixtures, and production equipment design
  • Manufacturing process development and optimisation
  • Production scale-up and manufacturing improvement initiatives
  • Leading or mentoring technicians and production personnel
  • CAD design experience, ideally using NX or SolidWorks

Ideal Background

Experience from the following sectors would be highly advantageous:

  • Aerospace
  • Automotive, particularly start-ups or high-growth manufacturing environments
  • Other highly regulated manufacturing industries

We are particularly interested in candidates who have helped increase production rates, improve manufacturing efficiency, or take products from prototype into production.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be:

  • Hands-on and mechanically minded
  • Comfortable working equally well on the shop floor and in an engineering environment
  • Capable of taking ownership and leading manufacturing initiatives
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve
  • Practical, resourceful, and willing to get involved wherever needed
  • Passionate about building, improving, and scaling manufacturing operations

Whether your career began as a technician and progressed into manufacturing engineering, or you've followed a traditional engineering route, we're keen to hear from individuals who combine strong engineering fundamentals with genuine hands-on manufacturing expertise.

Experience

We are open to candidates with approximately 5-15+ years' experience, with greater emphasis placed on practical capability, attitude, and problem-solving skills than on a specific number of years in industry.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact within a growing manufacturing organisation. You'll play a key role in shaping production processes, influencing facility growth, and helping transition innovative products from prototype through to full-scale manufacture. If you enjoy solving real-world engineering challenges and seeing the direct results of your work, this role offers exceptional variety and responsibility.
