Senior Geologist
Our client operates an open-pit copper mining complex in Arizona. The site includes concentrators, a leach pad and stacking system, SX plants, and EW tank houses producing copper cathode.
What You'll Do
Under general supervision, you'll log drill samples, conduct geologic mapping, and build resource block models, providing technical expertise and leadership across geological exploration and modeling.
- Log and evaluate core and RC drill cuttings, including quality-control review of junior geologists' logging work
- Direct and oversee drilling programs, road construction, and contractor-led sample preparation
- Combine geological, assay, and mineralogical datasets into maps, cross sections, and level plans
- Mentor and develop junior geology staff
- Lead a team in building computerized resource block models aligned with corporate standards
- Stay current on relevant federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Advise site leadership on regulatory matters and compliance considerations
- Maintain and update drill hole databases and exploration documentation
- Partner with metallurgy teams on sample testing and ore type characterization
- Conduct geologic mapping across both surface and underground settings
- Contribute to short-range exploration planning and budget development.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Geology (or related field) and 5 years' experience, OR Master's degree and 3 years' experience
- Comfortable working in a mine/plant setting, including exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, and other industrial hazards.
