Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor - Position Overview
The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor is accountable for designing, implementing, and continuously improving workplace safety and compliance initiatives across the facility. This position serves as a key operational partner, promoting a culture centered on prevention, accountability, and regulatory compliance while ensuring safe daily operations for all employees. The role maintains a strong presence on the production floor, collaborates closely with leadership and operational teams, and drives long-term safety performance improvements.

Core Responsibilities
- Direct and maintain site-wide environmental, health, and safety programs in alignment with applicable regulatory standards and company objectives.
- Evaluate workplace activities, processes, and behaviors to identify potential hazards and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Address employee safety concerns promptly and professionally while supporting a responsive internal service culture.
- Perform recurring safety inspections, compliance reviews, behavioral observations, and operational risk assessments; ensure corrective actions are completed effectively and on schedule.
- Lead investigations related to injuries, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, utilizing root cause methodologies to reduce recurrence.
- Analyze injury trends, safety metrics, and operational data to recommend improvements that strengthen overall workplace safety performance.
- Maintain and revise safety documentation including policies, safe work practices, job hazard analyses, emergency procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Prepare and communicate safety performance reports, KPIs, and compliance updates during operational and leadership review meetings.
- Partner with department managers and HR teams to support injury management programs, return-to-work coordination, and workers' compensation processes.
- Administer workers' compensation activities including documentation, claim coordination, medical follow-up, communication with external providers, and employee support activities.
- Support external audits, agency inspections, and compliance reviews in coordination with site EHS leadership.
- Monitor PPE inventory usage, purchasing trends, and budget-related safety supply activities.
- Develop and facilitate employee training programs focused on regulatory compliance, hazard awareness, and safe work practices.
- Participate in cross-functional safety committees, operational meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to site-wide operational excellence and safety culture programs through active leadership involvement.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in occupational safety within food manufacturing settings.
- Demonstrated experience supervising safety initiatives, programs, or personnel in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA requirements, compliance standards, and safety management principles.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, trend analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent credentials are considered an advantage.
- Existing experience on large sites (250+ personel)
