Senior Engineering Manager

CSG Talent is partnering with an innovative clean technology company that has developed a proprietary process aimed at supporting the circular economy and critical materials supply chain.

Following successful pilot scale validation, the business is entering a critical phase of industrialisation and is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the transition from pilot operations to precommercial and commercial deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the scale up of a proprietary chemical/electrochemical process from pilot to precommercial operation.
• Act as the primary engineering lead and key interface with EPCM partners, engineering consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Translate pilot plant results into robust commercial engineering solutions.
• Drive commissioning, start-up, process validation, and operational readiness activities.
• Establish engineering standards, operating procedures, and performance frameworks required for commercial deployment.
• Build and mentor a small team of process and chemical engineers.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and project delivery risks throughout the scale up process.
• Support future commercialisation strategies and international deployment opportunities.
• Drive improvements in safety, reliability, process performance, and operational efficiency.

Your Profile

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have experience scaling industrial technologies from pilot or demonstration scale through to commercial operation.

Relevant industry backgrounds may include:

• Battery recycling
• Hydrometallurgy
• Lithium chemicals
• Specialty chemicals
• Electrochemical processing
• Critical minerals processing
• Advanced materials
• Flow batteries
• Fuel cells
• Other complex chemical manufacturing environments

Key Requirements

• Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience taking technologies from pilot through to commercialisation.
• Strong background in chemical process engineering and process scale up.
• Experience managing EPCM contractors, engineering consultants, and commissioning activities.
• Demonstrated success in project delivery, start up, and operational readiness.
• Strong understanding of process validation, risk management, and industrialisation challenges.
• Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
• Comfortable operating within a fast paced, pioneering environment where processes and structures continue to evolve.
