Senior Electrical Engineer / Design Delivery Lead (Data Centers) | West Coast US

A leading developer and operator of mission-critical digital infrastructure is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design delivery across a growing U.S. data center portfolio. Reporting into regional leadership and partnering closely with development and project delivery teams, this role will provide technical direction, governance, and decision-making across multiple active programs-ensuring designs are robust, compliant, commercially sound, and delivered to quality, budget, and schedule expectations.

This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership position for an engineer who can manage complex stakeholder groups, challenge designs where needed, and drive outcomes across consultants, contractors, vendors, and customer engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

Partner with development teams on customer technical requests, including RFP/RFI/RFQ support and engineering clarifications

Lead electrical services design delivery from concept through construction documentation, coordinating inputs across disciplines and stakeholders

Provide design governance: respond to RFIs, review/approve technical submittals, and ensure design intent is maintained through delivery

Conduct detailed design reviews of contractor-led submissions to identify risk, gaps, and non-conformances, and drive resolution

Evaluate and influence electrical equipment and system selection to meet customer requirements, performance standards, and project constraints

Provide technical direction on critical infrastructure systems and broader data center basis of design requirements

Manage external consultants and contractors producing electrical services packages, ensuring quality, pace, and alignment to requirements

Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to align solutions to technical specifications, performance, resilience, and budget parameters

Support delivery controls across scope, cost, schedule, documentation, and reporting in partnership with project management resources

Coordinate with authorities and approval bodies to support design progression, approvals, and compliance requirements

Post-handover, review performance and identify opportunities for operational optimisation, energy efficiency, and repeatable portfolio improvements

Contribute to the ongoing evolution of portfolio standards and basis of design as technology and customer expectations advance

Support feasibility and due diligence activities to validate technical solutions during early-stage development and site selection

Build senior relationships with customers throughout delivery, maintaining credibility and ensuring expectations are met

Mentor and support project teams, contributing to capability development and lessons-learned programs

What we're looking for

Degree (or Master's) in Electrical Engineering

10+ years' experience in electrical/building services design and construction with a strong track record in data center builds

Strong knowledge of data center electrical infrastructure and delivery requirements, including resilience, constructability, commissioning readiness, and operational performance

Experience designing or interpreting protection and grading studies, and confidence challenging solutions to reduce risk

Demonstrable experience leading complex programs: consultant selection, RFP/RFQ processes, budgeting, and coordination across multiple teams

Vendor and subcontractor management experience, with the ability to drive practical outcomes through external partners

Commercial strength, including contract awareness, negotiation capability, and disciplined decision-making

Familiarity with hyper-scale and collocation operator requirements and basis-of-design expectations

Solid working knowledge of structured reporting and documentation; comfortable working across Excel/Word and presenting to stakeholders
