Senior Distribution Supervisor/Assistant Manager - Food Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Supervisor/Assistant Manager to lead day-to-day operations within a high-volume food manufacturing and distribution environment. This position will play a key role in developing people, driving operational performance, maintaining compliance, and improving distribution processes.

The role is fully onsite at the company's distribution facility in southwest Missouri and operates on a day-shift schedule.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress within the organization and may be required to relocate to another U.S. facility as part of future career development and business needs. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities

The Distribution Supervisor will have responsibility across three primary areas: People Leadership, Distribution Operations, and Compliance.

  • Lead, coach, develop and performance-manage hourly employees and frontline leadership teams.
  • Coordinate daily shipping, receiving, warehouse and distribution activities to maximize productivity, service levels and efficiency.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, service, quality and cost.
  • Establish, monitor and report distribution KPIs, using data and root-cause analysis to drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and established processes are consistently followed across the distribution operation.
  • Support food safety, quality, workplace safety and environmental compliance requirements within the facility.
  • Partner with site leadership to maintain compliance with customer, regulatory and company standards.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, service and safety.
  • Build a strong accountability and ownership culture while developing frontline leaders and future management talent.
  • Identify development needs within the team, establish development plans and help remove barriers to employee progression.
  • Support capital improvement projects, including business case development, justification, implementation and follow-through.
  • Assist with annual operational and capital planning activities.
  • Manage relationships with external warehouse and service providers where required.
  • Oversee the facility forklift program, including safety, training, compliance and cost management.
  • Maintain consistent distribution processes, SOPs and performance standards across the operation.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and site leadership to ensure the facility, equipment and grounds remain safe, functional and well maintained.
  • Travel periodically, including to other company locations, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, Food Science or a related discipline preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of leadership experience within a medium-to-large warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing environment preferably within food manufacturing settings.
  • Demonstrated experience leading frontline teams and developing supervisors or other operational leaders.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse/distribution operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory and material flow.
  • Experience using KPIs, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated food manufacturing environment.
  • Results-driven leadership style with the ability to hold teams accountable while developing talent.
  • Willingness to relocate within the U.S. in the future based on business requirements and career progression.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 20%.
