Senior Commissioning Engineer

We are working with a leading energy infrastructure contractor delivering complex HV and renewable energy projects throughout Victoria. Due to continued project wins, they are seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple projects.

Candidates with senior commissioning experience from mining, oil & gas, power generation or other heavy industrial sectors are strongly encouraged to apply. High voltage experience within these environments is highly transferable.

This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong site presence.

The Role

As Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will lead commissioning activities from planning through to energisation and handover. You will provide technical oversight, mentor junior engineers and ensure best practice commissioning standards are upheld across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of commissioning strategies

• Review and approve commissioning procedures and ITPs

• Provide on-site technical leadership during testing and energisation

• Lead protection relay testing and system validation

• Manage commissioning risks and ensure compliance

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and subcontractors

• Mentor and guide commissioning engineers and technicians

About You

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent

• Extensive commissioning experience within HV substations, renewables, utilities, mining, oil & gas or power generation

• Strong technical capability across protection, control and SCADA interfaces

• Demonstrated ability to lead site-based commissioning teams

• Strong safety leadership in high-risk environments

• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills

• Willingness to travel across Victoria
