Sales Representative - Japan
About the company
A global manufacturer of dosing technology with 25 subsidiaries worldwide, and the number one player in cleaning & hygiene dosing. Its systems are widely recognised as the best technology in the field.
Global and corporate agreements with major international customers give the local team an established base of business from day one, backed by the expertise of the European headquarters and the group's manufacturing sites in China and the US.
Established in Japan since 2017, the business runs a sales-focused office in Tokyo with third-party warehousing, so the team can concentrate fully on customers.
With a clear business plan for Japan and continued investment across Asia, the company is now growing its local team. The Technical Sales Representative is the top-priority hire in that plan.
Why this role
- Represent the leading technology in its niche, with an existing customer base in Japan already in place.
- Learn the market from a senior colleague who has been with the Japanese business since it opened, knows the customers well and brings a strong technical background.
- Local back-up from a post-sales technician (installation, troubleshooting and customer calls) and a back-office coordinator, so you can stay focused on customers.
- A structured start: around one week of product and technical training at the European headquarters with the product managers and technicians, plus catalogues, technical data sheets and training materials.
- Regular face-to-face support from the Regional Sales Manager, who visits the market roughly every two months.
- A company that invests heavily in its people and builds each role around individual strengths: strong hunters are backed to open more new customers, and strong account developers are supported to grow key accounts and expand product ranges.
Role purpose
Drive new business across Japan through hands-on B2B field sales. Your main focus is opening new customers while travelling throughout the country, alongside growing sales with existing customers and distributors.

- Build and strengthen relationships with customers and business partners in the local market.
- Identify new business opportunities and support market expansion.

About you
- Three to five years of B2B commercial experience, ideally in professional cleaning chemicals, hygiene solutions, commercial kitchen equipment, warewashing, or related technical and industrial businesses.
- Fluent Japanese and good English communication skills (both essential).
- A strong B2B sales mindset with a practical, proactive and hands-on approach, and comfortable travelling throughout Japan.
- Comfortable with practical technical topics, such as simple device programming via smartphone and customer site compliance requirements. No engineering background is required.
- Present, focused and committed: the company invests in its people and looks for the same commitment in return.
