Director of Sales (B2B Nutrition Ingredients) - Chicago, IL
A leading global organisation within the nutrition ingredients industry is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead commercial growth initiatives and manage a high-performing sales team across North America.
This strategic leadership role will be responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, expanding key customer relationships, and executing sales strategies across a diverse portfolio of nutritional ingredient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, margin, and market share objectives.
- Lead strategic account growth initiatives while maintaining strong relationships with key customers and industry partners.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of account managers and sales professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Oversee commercial negotiations, contract management, and resolution of customer-related business issues.
- Collaborate closely with product management, operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to align commercial objectives with broader business strategy.
- Monitor sales pipeline activity, forecasting accuracy, performance metrics, and financial results to optimise business outcomes.
- Identify new market opportunities and support the expansion of existing product lines and customer segments.
Requirements
Essential
- Significant B2B sales leadership experience within nutrition ingredients, food ingredients, beverage ingredients, specialty chemicals, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated success selling nutritional, functional, or branded ingredient solutions to manufacturers and formulators.
- Proven track record of delivering sustained revenue growth and developing strategic customer accounts.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred
- Experience managing sales activities across multiple regions or international markets.
- Background working within ingredient distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or value-added service environments.
- Familiarity with the nutrition, health and wellness, sports nutrition, or food and beverage sectors.
