Project Director - Data Centres

The Opportunity

A leading data centre developer is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the end-to-end delivery of major data centre developments in Finland.

This is a senior leadership position with overall responsibility for the project from concept and early development through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover.

The Project Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across the project, with direct responsibility for coordinating the CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) teams and ensuring successful integration across all disciplines.

This is a key appointment within a growing data centre platform, offering the opportunity to take significant ownership of the project while establishing strong delivery processes, governance and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall accountability for the successful end-to-end delivery of the data centre project from concept through to operational handover.
• Lead, manage and develop the CSA and MEP project teams, ensuring effective integration and coordination across all disciplines.
• Provide overall leadership across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Establish and manage the project delivery strategy, programme, governance and reporting structures.
• Maintain overall responsibility for programme, budget, risk, quality and project performance.
• Ensure the project is delivered safely, in accordance with Finnish regulations and to the required technical and quality standards.
• Work closely with commissioning leadership to ensure effective testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing and operational readiness.
• Lead the project through final completion, documentation and handover to the operational team.
• Provide regular reporting and strategic updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain a high-performing project organisation capable of delivering future phases and developments.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced Project Director / Senior Project Director / Programme Director with a strong track record of delivering complex, large-scale data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.

You will ideally have:

• Significant end-to-end project delivery experience, from concept/feasibility through design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Extensive experience within data centres, hyperscale, mission-critical or similarly complex infrastructure.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary CSA and MEP teams.
• Experience managing major contractors, consultants, specialist suppliers and multiple project stakeholders.
• Strong design management and construction delivery experience.
• A detailed understanding of MEP, CSA and the interfaces between disciplines.
• Experience managing large project budgets and complex delivery programmes.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

This position is based in Finland, and candidates currently outside Finland must be willing to relocate to Finland for the role.

Candidates with strong European or Nordic data centre experience will be particularly attractive, although international candidates with the right hyperscale and end-to-end delivery background will also be considered.
