Process Engineer - SX, Leaching (12-Month Contract)

Location: Karlsruhe, Germany (Candidates must be based locally or within commuting distance)
Contract: 12-Month Contract (Potential to Convert to Permanent)

CSG are pleased to be supporting a client at the forefront of battery recycling and advanced process technology, seeking a Process Engineer to support commissioning and operational test campaigns at a newly developed plant in Karlsruhe.

This is a hands on role in a live plant environment, bridging process development and commercial scale up.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute commissioning and operational campaigns across backend processing circuits
• Support safe plant start up and shutdown activities
• Monitor and evaluate process performance vs design targets
• Conduct structured test-work, sampling, and data collection
• Perform mass balances and analyse extraction efficiencies
• Interpret process data to support optimisation and scale-up
• Prepare technical reports and document findings
• Ensure strict adherence to HSEQ standards
• Work closely with operations, R&D, and engineering teams

Candidate Profile

• 2-5 years' experience as a Process or Metallurgical Engineer
• Background in pilot plant, commissioning, or test-work environments
• Strong analytical and problem solving capability
• Comfortable working hands on in an industrial plant setting
• Experience in hydrometallurgy, SX, or leaching processes preferred
• Ability to read P&IDs and process flowsheets
• German language skills required (minimum B2 level preferred)
• Must be based locally or willing to commute daily to Karlsruhe

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline
• Additional training in process safety or commissioning is advantageous
