We are partnered with a leading, design-led California architecture practice seeking a Multifamily Principal to join its Los Angeles studio. With a long-standing reputation for delivering large-scale, complex urban projects, the firm is recognised for combining strong technical delivery with an increasing focus on design quality, positioning itself among the top-performing multifamily practices in the LA market.

The multifamily group is a core part of the business, with a healthy backlog and strong developer relationships. This hire represents a key leadership addition with clear progression into future studio leadership.

This role will operate as a Principal within the multifamily practice, taking ownership across project oversight, client engagement, and business development, while helping shape the next phase of growth as the group evolves its structure.

The Role
- Lead major multifamily and mixed-use projects as Principal-in-Charge

- Support business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships across the developer market

- Help shape the strategic direction of the multifamily practice as it evolves into defined studios

- Oversee project teams, working closely with Project Managers to ensure successful delivery

- Set projects up for success from early stages through to completion, maintaining oversight at key milestones

- Contribute to fee proposals, project planning, and commercial strategy

- Play a key role in elevating both delivery standards and design quality across the team

- Mentor and support the development of team members within the studio

- Collaborate with senior leadership on growth, structure, and long-term planning of the practice

Requirements
- Licensed Architect with strong experience delivering multifamily or mixed-use projects

- Proven track record operating at senior level within an architecture practice

- Strong understanding of client management, project delivery, and commercial aspects of projects

- Experience supporting or leading business development efforts

- Ability to lead teams and manage complex projects through all phases

- Design awareness, with the ability to guide and elevate design quality across teams

- Ambition to step into a broader leadership role with potential to lead a future studio
