The Opportunity

An established food manufacturing business is looking for a Manufacturing Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and enhance the digital systems that support its production operations.

This is a hands-on role focused on industrial software, manufacturing systems and operational technology. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and IT to improve production efficiency, equipment performance, system reliability and workplace safety.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and supporting SCADA, HMI, MES and manufacturing data systems, with experience using Ignition SCADA and its Perspective interface particularly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure and maintain SCADA, HMI, MES and manufacturing information systems, including graphics, tags, dashboards, reports and system integrations.

  • Build and enhance production monitoring solutions to improve operational visibility, productivity, safety and equipment performance.

  • Develop scripts and database solutions to support manufacturing processes, data collection, reporting and system functionality.

  • Configure and maintain SQL databases, including queries, tables, views and stored procedures.

  • Support industrial automation and control systems, including PLC programming and communications where required.

  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform preventative maintenance and provide technical support for production-critical applications, including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

  • Lead and coordinate system implementations, upgrades and improvement projects, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.

  • Maintain technical documentation and develop user guidance and training materials for new and updated systems.

  • Collaborate with plant stakeholders and technical teams to identify opportunities, prioritise improvements and implement effective solutions.

  • Support the development of consistent engineering and operational technology standards across the wider business.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience developing or supporting SCADA (ESSENTIAL), HMI, MES or other industrial control and manufacturing systems.

  • Hands-on experience with the Ignition SCADA platform (ESSENTIAL), particularly Perspective, is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, control-system architecture and manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience with SQL databases, queries, stored procedures and operational reporting.

  • Programming or scripting experience, ideally using Python.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production environments and industrial system integration.

  • Strong troubleshooting, project management and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • Fully on-site position based in Carthage, Missouri.

  • Relocation assistance available, including a $10,000 bonus for eligible candidates relocating more than 50 miles.

  • Occasional travel to other manufacturing facilities may be required.
