We are recruiting on behalf of a leading pork manufacturer for a Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team at a large-scale processing facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising maintenance activities, supporting production operations, and driving equipment reliability across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead a team of maintenance technicians while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production equipment, utilities, and facility systems, including ammonia refrigeration.
The Role
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring planned and reactive work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with production requirements. You will work closely with production, sanitation, and plant leadership teams to maximize uptime, improve equipment performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities across the facility.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts to minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are executed effectively.
- Support reliability initiatives focused on improving asset performance and reducing maintenance costs.
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel.
- Assign work priorities and manage daily maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Support training and development programs to improve technical capabilities across the team.
Ammonia Refrigeration & Utilities
- Support the operation and maintenance of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Ensure refrigeration equipment is maintained in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Assist with Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance where applicable.
- Coordinate maintenance activities related to boilers, compressors, wastewater, and other critical utility systems.
- Respond to refrigeration-related issues and support emergency response procedures when required.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the maintenance department.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, environmental, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with GMPs, sanitation requirements, and site safety standards.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive improvements in uptime, response time, and work order completion.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, capital projects, and facility improvements.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
- 3+ years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience within food manufacturing, meat processing, protein processing, or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with preventive maintenance systems and CMMS platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, pumps, and packaging equipment.
- Previous experience working with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
