We are recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer for a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team at a fully cooked (RTE) poultry processing site.
This is a key frontline leadership role, responsible for driving engineering performance on shift, improving equipment reliability, and supporting operational efficiency in a fast-paced, high-care food production environment.
The Role
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the engineering team on shift, ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with production requirements. You will play a critical role in minimising downtime, improving reliability, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Engineering Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate engineering activities during your shift
- Lead, coach, and support a team of engineers and technicians
- Ensure effective communication and handovers between shifts
Maintenance & Reliability
- Deliver planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules in line with site requirements
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
- Support the implementation of predictive maintenance and reliability improvements
- Drive a proactive approach to maintenance, reducing reactive work
Operational Support
- Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment availability and performance
- Support key processes within an RTE environment, including cooking, chilling, and packaging equipment
- Assist with line changeovers, start-ups, and process optimisation
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with food safety, health & safety, and site standards
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and GMP within a high-care / high-risk environment
- Support audits and ensure all engineering documentation is up to date
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to equipment reliability and performance
- Support lean, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Use data and KPIs to drive performance improvements
About You
- Experience in a maintenance/engineering supervisory role within food manufacturing
- Background in poultry or RTE/fully cooked environments highly desirable
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
- Experience with PPM systems and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards in high-care environments
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-focused approach
