We are recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer for a Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team at a high-volume pork processing facility.

This is a key leadership role on shift, offering the opportunity to drive equipment reliability, improve operational efficiency, and support continuous improvement within a fast-paced production environment.


The Role

As Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the engineering team on shift, ensuring maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to production. You'll play a hands-on role in managing breakdowns, delivering planned maintenance, and driving reliability improvements across the site.


Key Responsibilities

Shift Engineering Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate engineering activities during your shift
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians
  • Ensure clear communication and effective shift handovers

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Deliver planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules in line with production requirements
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and drive rapid resolution to minimise downtime
  • Support predictive maintenance initiatives and continuous reliability improvements
  • Drive a proactive maintenance culture, reducing reactive work

Operational Support

  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment uptime and performance
  • Support key processing areas such as slaughter, butchery, cutting, and packaging lines
  • Assist with line start-ups, changeovers, and process optimisation

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with health & safety, food safety, and site standards
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and GMP within a food production environment
  • Support audits and ensure maintenance records and documentation are up to date

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment performance and reliability
  • Support lean manufacturing, TPM, and CI initiatives across the site
  • Use maintenance data and KPIs to drive performance improvements

About You

  • Experience in a maintenance/engineering supervisory role within food manufacturing
  • Background in meat or pork processing highly desirable
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Experience working with PPM systems and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards within food production
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
