Maintenance Supervisor

The Opportunity

We're working with a leading protein manufacturer to find a Maintenance Supervisor for a busy pork processing facility.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving production environment where equipment reliability really matters. You'll be leading a team of maintenance technicians, keeping the plant running safely and efficiently, and making sure breakdowns are dealt with quickly and properly. You'll also play a big part in improving uptime, reducing downtime, and driving day-to-day reliability across the site.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of maintenance activity across production areas, working closely with production and site leadership to keep things moving.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Oversee daily maintenance work across the plant.
  • Make sure planned preventive maintenance is completed on time.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and lead troubleshooting.
  • Get to the root cause of failures and help stop them coming back.
  • Support ongoing efforts to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.
  • Organise shift cover, priorities, and daily workload.
  • Set expectations around safety, quality, and performance.
  • Help build a team culture that takes ownership and looks for better ways of working.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with production to keep equipment available and running efficiently.
  • Support maintenance across processing, packaging, refrigeration, utilities, and materials handling systems.
  • Help with installations, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Coordinate contractors and make sure external work is done safely and properly.

Safety, Food Safety & Compliance

  • Make sure all maintenance work follows health and safety rules and site procedures.
  • Maintain GMP, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Support audits and inspections with clear and accurate records.
  • Encourage safe working practices across the team.

Continuous Improvement

  • Use maintenance KPIs to understand performance and spot opportunities to improve.
  • Support TPM, Lean, and reliability improvement activities.
  • Look for practical ways to reduce cost and improve equipment performance.
  • Help build longer-term reliability and asset care improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, or Lead Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in food, protein, meat, pork, or FMCG manufacturing is required
  • Solid mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background.
  • Experience with planned maintenance systems and maintenance scheduling.
  • Good understanding of GMP, food safety, and health & safety standards.
  • Confident leadership style with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
