HD Fitters - Specialist Excavators
Perth Based | FIFO & DIDO | Even Time Roster | WA Surface Mining

We are partnering with a leading surface mining contractor delivering major earthmoving and mining services across Western Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced HD Fitters to join specialist maintenance teams working on large excavator fleets across multiple WA operations.

These are permanent opportunities, with the option to commence on a labour hire basis. Immediate starts are available.

The Opportunity

Working across three FIFO sites and one DIDO site, all accessible from Perth, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of large excavators, keeping fleets operating safely and reliably in a high-production mining environment. You will work on an even time roster and be part of a close-knit trades team supported by experienced supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on heavy excavator fleets, including models 3600, 2600, 1200, 1900, 6060 and 6040
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on mining excavators
• Carry out component changeouts, inspections and planned servicing in line with maintenance schedules
• Complete accurate job cards, maintenance records and defect reports
• Work safely and collaboratively within a structured maintenance team
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices and equipment reliability
• Adhere to all site safety, environmental and quality standards

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel/Plant Fitter (or equivalent)
• Proven experience maintaining large excavators, with hands-on exposure to at least one of the listed models (3600, 2600, 1200, 1900, 6060, 6040)
• Experience working on an even time or similar FIFO/DIDO roster highly regarded
• Current driver's licence

Technical Skills

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Sound understanding of planned maintenance systems and OEM procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

• Good communication skills across all levels of the site
