Glazing Operations Manager

Location: Baltimore, MD
Job Type: Full-Time

A growing and well-established commercial exterior construction contractor is seeking an experienced Glazing Operations Manager to lead and oversee its commercial glazing operations in the Baltimore market. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced glazing professional who can bring together project management, field operations, estimating, procurement, scheduling, quality, and financial performance to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

The Operations Manager will play a critical role in the continued growth and development of the glazing division, providing leadership to Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and field personnel while maintaining accountability for operational performance. The successful candidate will combine strong technical glazing knowledge with commercial awareness, leadership ability, and a proven track record of delivering complex commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the company's commercial glazing operations.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of multiple commercial glazing projects from contract award through final completion.
  • Lead and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and other operational personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective project management and field execution processes.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, margins, manpower, and overall financial performance.
  • Review project forecasts and identify potential cost, schedule, staffing, procurement, and scope issues before they impact performance.
  • Work closely with estimating during the transition from bid to awarded project, ensuring scope, budget, labor requirements, and project expectations are clearly established.
  • Oversee procurement, fabrication coordination, material availability, logistics, and installation planning.
  • Provide guidance on complex technical, contractual, and field issues.
  • Ensure projects are adequately staffed and that manpower is aligned with project schedules and production requirements.
  • Establish accountability for project teams and ensure milestones, budgets, and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Work closely with General Contractors, owners, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and other construction partners.
  • Review and support change-order strategy, claims, scope development, and recovery of additional project costs.
  • Monitor project closeout, punch lists, final billing, warranties, and outstanding financial items.
  • Develop and maintain operational KPIs and reporting to track project and divisional performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, standardize processes, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
  • Assist senior leadership with annual planning, staffing, forecasting, business development, and growth initiatives.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing project management and field personnel.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, quality, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, contractual requirements, applicable codes, and jobsite safety standards.

Technical & Operational Expertise

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of commercial glazing and building-envelope construction, including systems such as:

  • Curtain wall
  • Storefront
  • Window wall
  • Commercial windows
  • Entrances and framing systems
  • Architectural glass
  • Aluminum systems
  • Metal panels and related façade components

A strong understanding of fabrication, installation sequencing, field productivity, material procurement, subcontractor management, and construction coordination is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial glazing or building-envelope experience, with significant experience in project or operations leadership.
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple commercial glazing projects simultaneously.
  • Previous experience leading Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, or field teams.
  • Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, job costing, budgets, and profitability.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve operational, contractual, technical, and scheduling issues.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction contracts and change-order processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and shop drawings.
  • Strong relationships with General Contractors, developers, architects, suppliers, and industry partners are highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and modern construction/project management platforms.
  • A proven track record of developing people and building high-performing teams.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be a hands-on operational leader who understands both the technical and commercial sides of glazing. They should be comfortable moving between high-level financial and operational discussions and the day-to-day realities of project execution.

This individual will be expected to bring structure, accountability, and consistency to the operation while supporting the team rather than simply managing from a distance. The role requires someone who can identify problems early, develop practical solutions, hold teams accountable, and build strong relationships with customers and employees.
