We are partnering with an established exploration company with a strong project portfolio in the Charters Towers region of Queensland. Following the retirement of their long-standing senior geologist, and ahead of anticipated joint venture and earn-in agreements, they are seeking an experienced Exploration Manager to rebuild and lead their technical team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to senior leadership, you will take ownership of exploration strategy and technical delivery across a portfolio of copper and gold projects, with copper-nickel-PGE experience highly regarded. You will manage at least one geologist directly and coordinate field campaigns in conjunction with an established labour-hire and consulting group who supply field geologists and assistants on a contract basis. This is an opportunity to lead technical strategy at a pivotal time, as the business prepares for potential joint venture and earn-in partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical and exploration strategy across copper and gold projects
• Manage and mentor at least one geologist, rebuilding technical team capability
• Coordinate field campaigns in conjunction with contracted field geologists and assistants
• Oversee project geology, targeting, and interpretation of exploration data
• Support due diligence and technical positioning ahead of joint venture and earn-in discussions
• Liaise with consultants and contractors engaged during the interim period, ensuring continuity of technical knowledge
• Prepare technical reports and updates for management and prospective partners
• Ensure exploration activities are compliant with relevant safety and regulatory requirements

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Geology or related discipline
• Significant experience in copper and gold exploration
• Copper-nickel-PGE experience highly regarded
• Experience operating at exploration manager or senior geologist level
• Prior experience managing or mentoring junior geologists and coordinating field teams

Technical Skills

• Strong technical geology skills across target generation, drill programs and resource interpretation
• Experience working alongside contracted field geologists and labour-hire arrangements
• Familiarity with the technical due diligence requirements of joint venture and earn-in agreements

Personal Attributes

• Comfortable operating autonomously and rebuilding a technical function
• Strong communication skills, able to engage with management, partners and field personnel
• Willingness to travel to project sites in the Charters Towers region

Location

Brisbane-based, with projects located in the Charters Towers region of Queensland. Candidates based in Brisbane or locally around Charters Towers are preferred; FIFO arrangements from elsewhere on the east coast will also be considered.
