Exploration Geologist - PNG Gold & Copper Projects
Papua New Guinea (FIFO) | Full-Time | Approx. 3-4 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off

We are partnering with a gold and copper exploration company advancing two island-based exploration projects in Papua New Guinea. With drilling set to commence on a high-grade gold project, our client is seeking an Exploration Geologist to join its growing PNG field team.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Exploration, you will support field exploration activities across the company's island-based PNG projects, with immediate involvement in an upcoming drilling campaign at a high-grade gold project. This is a full-time role suited to a geologist with gold or copper-gold exploration experience who is comfortable working in remote, jungle field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and contribute to RC, diamond and aircore drilling programs
• Complete core logging, sampling and QA/QC in line with company procedures
• Assist with drill-program planning and day-to-day field supervision
• Contribute to geological mapping, sampling and target generation across project areas
• Maintain accurate field and geological data records
• Work collaboratively within field crews of approximately 10 people, including local landowners and support staff
• Ensure all field activities are carried out safely and in line with site requirements
• Assist with reporting on exploration progress and technical findings

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Geology or a related discipline
• Approximately 3-6 years' exploration geology experience (candidates with more or less experience will also be considered)
• Gold or copper-gold exploration background preferred
• Experience with RC, diamond and/or aircore drilling programs
• PNG or other remote/international field experience highly regarded, though not essential

Technical Skills

• Core logging, drill program support and sample management
• MicroMine experience highly regarded; familiarity with Leapfrog and/or QGIS also recognised
• Understanding of epithermal gold systems an advantage, though not essential

Personal Attributes

• Comfortable working and living in remote jungle field conditions, including basic camp facilities and limited amenities
• Resilient, adaptable and safety-focused
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a field team
• Willing and able to work an extended overseas rotation

Location
Fly-in fly-out to island-based project sites in Papua New Guinea. Candidates based anywhere in Australia, or in PNG, will be considered.

Eligibility
Applicants must have full Australian working rights, or be eligible to obtain the necessary permits and visas to work in Papua New Guinea. PNG nationals with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
