The Business:

Our Client is a food manufacturer across Frozen Food and Sealed Food manufacturing

They are looking for a Environment, Health and Safety Manager to support one of their major sites

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager has the overall responsibility for managing Environmental Health and Safety improvement activities to achieve excellence at the site level. This position will work with site Supply Chain teams to develop the local EHS strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable EHS excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Support the implementation of the Group SHEQ Management Systems for the areas of control
  • Improve and maintain SHEQManagement Systems
  • Identify and ensure compliance with legislation and our management system requirements
  • Ensure regular audits are completed and corrective action taken as and when required
  • Conduct accident investigations and follow up with improvement actions
  • Support SHEQ communications dissemination to ensure all are fully informed of the latest SHEQ developments and help drive SHEQcultural change
  • Ensure the development of processes that will withstand the scrutiny of third party auditors with respect to ISO accreditations local legal requirements
  • Follow up on audits by external stakeholders
  • Responsible for ensuring that all tasks are undertaken in a safe manner and for ensuring the reporting of any near miss incidents, hazards or actual incidents.
  • Responsible for highlighting any unsafe activities to the colleague undertaking them and the managers in control of those areas
  • Progress safety improvement programs/projects
  • Deliver on site SHEQSHEQ training to all levels of employees and support the roll out of Group wide training initiatives

Requirements

  • Education. Bachelor's Degree; B.A or B.S, in Occupational Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety Management/ Environmental Science preferred

  • Practical experience, with a minimum of 1 to 3 years, in the field of Environmental Health and Safety Experience in Manufacturing and/or Engineering

  • Food manufacturing backgrounfd preferred
