Instrumentation & Reliability Strategy Director

The Opportunity
A leading mining company is seeking an experienced leader to oversee instrumentation, maintenance, and reliability strategy across large scale mining and processing operations.
This role will focus on improving equipment reliability, operational performance, asset integrity, and maintenance effectiveness across both mobile and fixed plant operations. The successful candidate will lead reliability improvement initiatives, predictive maintenance programs, instrumentation strategy, and operational technology integration across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance, instrumentation, and reliability initiatives across mining and mineral processing operations
- Develop strategies to improve equipment availability, reduce downtime, and optimize asset performance
- Oversee predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, instrumentation diagnostics, and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) programs
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and site leadership teams to support operational performance objectives
- Drive standardization of maintenance processes, instrumentation systems, and reliability frameworks across multiple operations
- Support commissioning activities, shutdown planning, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage operational budgets, maintenance costs, and long term asset improvement programs
Background & Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related discipline
- Extensive maintenance and reliability experience within the mining industry supporting both mobile and fixed plant equipment
- Previous leadership experience across mining, maintenance, reliability, or processing operations
- Strong understanding of SAP Maintenance Module, CMMS platforms, and maintenance planning systems
- Experience with industrial instrumentation, process control systems, communication networks, and VFDs
- Knowledge of ISA standards, commissioning processes, lifecycle asset management, and reliability improvement programs
- Strong understanding of mining operations, shutdown planning, and asset performance optimization
- Knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, NEC, and industrial safety regulations
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing large, diverse technical and operational teams
- Requires domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time
