My client is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead capital project execution across their manufacturing operations. This senior leadership role requires a highly visible, hands-on leader who thrives in an environment where engineering leadership is deeply embedded in plant operations, cross-functional collaboration, and on-the-floor engagement. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project engineering, from concept through execution, while driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects from concept to completion

  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, and timelines

  • Work closely with plant leadership, engineering teams, and operations in a highly visible, hands-on capacity

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define project scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks with robust contingency planning

  • Partner with finance and accounting teams to manage budgets, approvals, and cost controls

  • Implement and improve project management tools, processes, and standards

  • Ensure transparent communication and alignment across all stakeholders

  • Track, analyze, and report project performance metrics to senior leadership

  • Oversee procurement of equipment, materials, and vendors for manufacturing projects

  • Lead special projects and support business initiatives as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • 7-10+ years of experience in manufacturing environments (maintenance, process, engineering, or facilities)

  • Strong technical knowledge of production processes

  • Experience within food, beverage, dairy, or ingredients manufacturing environments preferred

  • Proven project management experience, including procurement and vendor oversight

  • CapEx budgeting and spend management expertise

  • Proficiency in EAM/CMMS systems (e.g., INFOR, SYS21, or similar)

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Analytical, data-driven problem solver

  • A visible, hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Results-oriented, innovative, and self-directed
