Head of Development - Data Centre

The Opportunity

CSG are currently partnered with a PE backed data centre developer, who are seeking an experienced Head of Development to lead the origination and development of large-scale data centre projects across Spain & Europe.

This is a strategic, commercially focused role combining site origination, development and customer business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing land and power opportunities, navigating planning and permitting processes, and building strategic relationships with hyperscalers, neoclouds and other major data centre customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and evaluate new data centre sites across Spain.
• Build relationships with landowners, developers, utilities and infrastructure partners.
• Lead land acquisition, site negotiations and development agreements.
• Manage planning, permitting and environmental processes.
• Develop strong relationships with local and regional authorities.
• Build and manage a pipeline of future data centre developments.
• Establish strategic relationships with hyperscalers, neoclouds and other large-scale customers.
• Understand customer requirements and translate them into viable development opportunities.
• Support commercial negotiations and customer engagement through to contracted capacity.
• Identify potential JV, acquisition and strategic partnership opportunities.

About You

• 10+ years' experience in data centres, digital infrastructure, real estate, energy or related development.
• Proven experience developing large-scale infrastructure or data centre projects.
• Strong track record working with landowners and public authorities.
• Experience with planning and permitting processes in Spain.
• Established network across the Spanish real estate, energy and data centre markets.
• Experience engaging with hyperscalers, neoclouds or major technology companies.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to originate opportunities and drive them through to delivery.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
