On behalf of a top-tier global general contractor, we are seeking a talented Construction Superintendent to manage field operations for a high-value project portfolio in Etobicoke. This position is specifically focused on high-consequence construction environments, prioritizing candidates with a strong blend of ICI (Industrial/Commercial/Institutional) and Data Center/Mission Critical infrastructure experience.
As a Superintendent, you will lead daily site activities, coordinate trade contractors, and direct Self-Perform Operations (SPO) crews. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a business that delivers North America's most technically demanding infrastructure while offering structured career development and comprehensive employee benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Field Management & Sequencing: Direct all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring complex trade sequencing aligns with the master project schedule.
Subcontractor & SPO Coordination: Supervise third-party subcontractors and oversee Self-Perform Operations (SPO) teams, monitoring daily performance, workforce levels, and material logistics.
Safety Leadership: Implement and enforce strict site-specific health and safety programs, executing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and maintaining a zero-harm site culture.
Technical Compliance: Interpret detailed structural, architectural, and complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings to ensure all Work-in-Place (WIP) meets rigorous design specifications.
Progress Tracking & Validation: Measure weekly trade production metrics, manage material deliveries, and verify monthly estimates of completed work for payment applications.
Proven Field Tenure: Minimum of 4+ years of active field supervision experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent within the Canadian commercial or industrial market.
Project Sector Fit: Distinct exposure to ICI projects, with a strong preference for individuals who have worked on Data Centers, pharmaceutical facilities, heavy telecom hubs, or similarly complex mission-critical environments.
Technical & Lean Competence: Solid working knowledge of construction engineering principles, field layouts, scheduling, and Lean Construction methods (such as the Last Planner System).
Local Regulations: Deep familiarity with local Ontario Building Codes, Ministry of Labour (MOL) safety standards, and OHSA regulations.
Education: A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of trade experience and Gold Seal Certification (GSC).
