Chief Exploration Geologist - Regional & Near-Mine Exploration
Northwestern Ontario | Full-Time, Permanent | 14/14 FIFO Rotation
We are partnering with an established North American precious metals producer to find a Chief Exploration Geologist for their operations in Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will provide technical leadership for the site's exploration team, driving regional exploration success and near-mine resource growth across a strategic land package in Archean greenstone belt terrain.
The Opportunity
You will take technical ownership of the regional exploration program, managing target generation, geological modelling and contractor-run field activities, while supporting the near-mine drilling program and mentoring the broader exploration team. This is a permanent, full-time position with a 14/14 FIFO rotation, offering long-term career growth within an active and well-resourced exploration business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage regional exploration programs, including budgeting, target generation, strategic planning, permitting and reporting
- Supervise and contribute to data management, collection, compilation and detailed interpretation of geological information
- Develop, maintain and update regional and deposit-scale geological models as exploration and understanding evolve
- Manage contractor-related regional work, including contractor selection, drilling and field supervision, and cost monitoring
- Support reporting requirements to government and other stakeholders, and assist with management of the near-mine drilling program
- Ensure all exploration activities, including contractor work, align with the company's environmental, health and safety policies
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the site exploration team
- Maintain positive relationships with surrounding communities
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Science; a post-graduate degree is an asset
- Registered or eligible to register as a P.Geo in Ontario
- 8-15+ years' mineral exploration experience in early-stage exploration, with regional-scale targeting experience in Archean greenstone belts an asset
- Previous supervisory experience across both exploration teams and contractors
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of mineral exploration methods, QA/QC practices, geological settings and deposit models, particularly gold deposit environments
- Proficiency in GIS and 3D modelling software, with ArcGIS and Leapfrog experience an asset
- Strong technical report writing skills

- Comfortable working on a FIFO rotation in a remote, residential site environment

Location
Based at a residential mine site in Northwestern Ontario, with a 14/14 FIFO rotation. Preference for candidates able to reside in or regularly commute to the Northwestern Ontario region; applicants with experience working in a cross-cultural environment and knowledge of the region are considered an asset.
