CSG are pleased to be partnered with a revenue generating, industrial technology company in the Lithium extraction space who are now seeking a Chemistry Modeling Scientist to own the chemistry and physics based modeling layer of the platform, translating real world field data into predictive insights that directly inform operations, product development, and long-term technology strategy.

This is a hands on role at the intersection of chemistry, data, and industrial deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, run, and scale chemistry based, physics based, and data driven models for brine pond and evaporation systems
  • Integrate thermodynamic, kinetic, and empirical models with sensor and field data
  • Calibrate and validate models using historical data, lab testing, and pilot scale results
  • Own the chemistry data layer, including:
    • Sensor data (temperature, level, pH, density, weather)
    • Lab analysis and sampling data
    • Field logs and operational metadata
  • Translate complex model outputs into clear, actionable operational recommendations
  • Support real-time and forward-looking decision-making during pilots and deployments
  • Partner closely with product leadership to influence:
    • Digital twin roadmap
    • Sensor selection and data requirements
    • Future software and hardware features
  • Contribute to technical documentation, customer discussions, and investor facing materials

Background

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
  • Strong foundation in aqueous chemistry, thermodynamics, phase behavior, heat and mass transfer
  • Experience building and running process models or data-driven models
  • Comfortable working with noisy, real-world field data
  • Ability to bridge deep technical work with operational and commercial impact

Experience

  • Brine, evaporation, lithium, water, hydrometallurgy, or chemical processing systems
  • Digital twin, industrial analytics, or sensor-integrated platforms
  • Pilot-scale R&D or early stage technology environments
  • Field based or outdoor industrial testing experience
