Business Development Manager - Mining Solutions (North America)

About the Opportunity

An established global OEM serving the mining industry is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth across North America.

This is a true hunter role, focused on identifying new opportunities, developing untapped markets, and building long-term relationships with mining customers. Unlike a traditional account management position, the emphasis is on creating new business opportunities, expanding market presence, and developing strategic customer partnerships.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven individual who enjoys building business from the ground up and thrives in a highly autonomous environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development activities across a specialist portfolio of mining equipment and technical solutions.

  • Identify, qualify and secure new mining customers and strategic projects across North America.

  • Develop and execute territory and market development plans to increase market penetration.

  • Build relationships with mine operators, engineering teams, maintenance managers, procurement professionals, and executive stakeholders.

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, customer trends, and competitive activity.

  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, industry events, referrals, and direct customer engagement.

  • Collaborate with distributors and channel partners to expand regional coverage where appropriate.

  • Deliver consultative, solution-based sales presentations focused on improving customer productivity, safety, and operational performance.

  • Work closely with engineering, product management, and aftermarket teams to develop customer-focused solutions.

  • Maintain an active pipeline, sales forecasts, and CRM activity to support business planning.

  • Represent the business at trade shows, conferences, and customer events.

  • Travel extensively throughout North America to develop new customer relationships and support business growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven success in business development or technical sales within the mining industry.

  • Experience selling capital equipment, engineered solutions, technical products, or aftermarket services into mining operations.

  • Strong hunter mentality with a proven ability to generate new business and develop strategic customer relationships.

  • Excellent commercial acumen with experience identifying market opportunities and converting them into long-term partnerships.

  • Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to operational and executive stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated, highly organised, and comfortable working independently across a large geographic territory.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 50-60% across North America.
