The Accountancy Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the poultry business, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning. The role supports operational efficiency across production, processing, and distribution by delivering timely financial insights and maintaining strong financial controls.
Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis
Produce weekly and monthly reporting tailored to agricultural and production cycles
Support year-end accounts preparation and liaise with external auditors
Lead annual budgeting process across farms, processing units, and logistics
Develop rolling forecasts, considering feed costs, livestock performance, and market pricing
Provide financial modelling for business decisions, including expansion or capital investments
Analyse production costs (feed, labour, utilities, veterinary costs)
Monitor margins across poultry products (e.g., eggs, broilers, processed goods)
Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards
Oversee VAT returns, payroll accounting, and statutory reporting
Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes
Manage and develop finance team members (e.g., assistant accountants, clerks)
Allocate workloads and ensure deadlines are met
Provide training and support to non-finance managers on financial processes
Work closely with farm managers and operations teams to align financial and production data
Support stock control processes, including livestock valuation and feed inventory
Contribute to business strategy with financial insights
