CSG Talent Working in Partnership

Beca

After a century of operation, they have grown from a family-owned business to one of the region's most progressive, client-centric professional services consultancies. They have more than 3,300 employees in 23 offices worldwide and have delivered projects in more than 70 countries.

The Brief

In recent years Beca has been building its presence in Australia; whilst competing with current consultancies, they are developing its reputation as an enviable employer in the Australian market to attract high calibre candidates to the business.

In New Zealand, Beca is thought of as the leading engineering consultancy with a strong employer brand; however, the Australian business is still relatively new in comparison. Whilst they further establish themselves in Australia, recruitment becomes an integral part of the journey. To do this, Beca is looking to recruit talented people with solid experience on projects such as national infrastructure projects to help deliver, increase the brand presence, and ultimately enable Beca to operate at the very top level of the Australian market.

CSG Talent’s Senior Consultant in Civil Engineering and Building Services, Garry Hart, reached out to Beca in December 2021 with a potential candidate and began discussions with Beca’s General Manager, Rachel Fowler. Though the candidate at the time was not successful, Garry demonstrated professionalism and knowledge of the market. Garry managed the process effectively and was keen to engage with other areas in the business to help grow their APAC team.

The Process

Since Beca agreed to work with CSG Talent, our Civil Engineering consultant, Garry has worked to gain a better understanding of the business and their needs, including travelling to Brisbane to meet with senior management to help strengthen their relationship. Beca has assigned several roles, from intermediate engineers to senior, associate and technical director level positions.

CSG Talent’s Civil Engineering team has run several networking campaigns and proactively headhunted potential talent with relevant experience; they focused on building rapport and relationships with candidates and promoting Beca’s brand. To assist with this, CSG Talent created professional and targeted candidate engagement packs to help position Beca as an employer of choice, support job promotion and attract high calibre candidates. In a highly competitive market, candidates need to be convinced a company is worth considering, and Garry has been an avid brand advocate for Beca.

In addition to his proactive approach, the recruitment team can tap into a vast global network and offer Beca access to international candidates they may not have considered before. High calibre candidates from overseas who are working on Australian projects were also provided to Beca for consideration. By providing this option, CSG Talent’s Civil Engineering team extended their candidate offering and given Beca a broader range of talent for consideration.

CSG Talent provided Beca with multiple short-listed candidates. Our Civil Engineering consultant Garry conducted face-to-face interviews (in person or online) with all of them to ensure they are appropriate for the business.

The Result

Two business critical positions have been placed with Beca and CSG Talent continue to actively pipeline and source suitable talent for Beca. The recruitment team have built strong connections with the management team and look forward to their ongoing relationship, supporting the overall hiring strategy and achieving headcount growth goals.
