Opportunity knocks for an experienced UG Geotechnical Leader, to play a key role on one of Tanzania's largest gold mines.

Our client is one of the largest producers of their kind, with operating mines globally.

The role can be worked from any global point of hire, on an expat FIFO rotation of 6/3, possibly 8/4

The Geotechnical Leader will ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards while providing crucial geotechnical input into the mining and mine planning process.

Responsibilities include maintaining and updating the Mine's Ground Control Management Plan, designing geotechnical stopes, developing primary support layouts, and analyzing underground stability monitoring systems.

You will manage a 3D Geotechnical block model for stope stability evaluations and utilize a Life of Mine stress model for sequencing and risk mitigation. Additional duties involve analyzing rock mass and structural logging data, overseeing ground support projects, and training Geotechnical Engineers.

The role also encompasses hydrogeological work, including system design and monitoring, data collection, and analysis of technical reports. The Geotechnical Leader will ensure adherence to approved mine ground support standards, conduct regular ground control audits, and manage ground support consumables. They will oversee training programs, ground support trials, and inspections of significant ground falls, while advising on ground control matters and generating reports.

Furthermore, the Geotechnical Leader will promote health and safety, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and procedures. They will establish and meet timelines consistently, providing upward reporting as required, and generating weekly and monthly Geotechnical reports to facilitate informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years' underground mining experience, including 5 years in precious metals using narrow vein long hole stoping. Proficiency in geotechnical design software like FLAC3D, Dips, UnWedge, RS2, RS3, Map3D, and Deswik mine design, as well as Ticker3D, Trace, and mXrap, is essential. The ideal candidate prioritizes safety, maintains precise records, and demonstrates strong interpretive skills for mine layouts.
