We are working with a well established manufacturer in the building materials sector to appoint a Materials Testing Laboratory Manager for their Acacia Ridge facility. This is a leadership focused role overseeing a busy testing environment that supports product performance, certification, and ongoing innovation across the business.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in engineering, quality, or material testing who enjoys a mix of technical problem solving, people leadership, and continuous improvement.
* Lead a team of 6 technicians, providing coaching, direction, and day to day support
* Oversee materials testing across structural, fire, and bushfire applications
* Plan testing schedules, allocate workloads, and ensure efficient laboratory workflow
* Review and validate results, maintaining clear and accurate reporting
* Manage lab equipment, including calibration, maintenance, and operational readiness
* Investigate technical issues and implement corrective actions where required
* Refine test processes and contribute to development of new testing methods
* Maintain strong working relationships with engineering, quality, and technical teams
* Promote best practice in safety and ensure compliance with all workplace procedures
* Background in engineering, quality, materials testing, or a related technical discipline
* Experience in fire testing or bushfire testing of building products is highly regarded
* Confident team leader with the ability to mentor and develop staff
* Strong practical skills and understanding of laboratory equipment and testing environments
* Excellent troubleshooting ability with a proactive mindset
* Comfortable managing documentation, data integrity, and reporting requirements
* Forklift, crane, or dogging licences are advantageous but not essential
