My client is an early-stage startup dedicated to advancing silicon anode battery technology. Our team is composed of senior experts from various fields who have come together to develop a distinctive approach to silicon anodes. Our mission is to innovate and provide more efficient, sustainable battery technologies for the future.

Position Overview: My client are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Head of Battery Design to support our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in battery design, materials choice, and cell assembly, particularly with high-capacity electrodes. This role involves preparing materials, assembling cells, performing electrochemical tests, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and assembly of battery cells, including coin cells and other formats.
  • Conduct electrochemical testing (e.g., charge/discharge cycles, capacity testing) on battery cells.
  • Select and evaluate materials for high-capacity electrodes and other cell components.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment such as glove boxes, crimping machines, and battery cyclers.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and maintain detailed laboratory records.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Support the materials scientist and R&D team in various research activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years (10+ preferred) of experience working in a laboratory environment, specifically with lithium-ion batteries.
  • Strong expertise in battery design, materials choice, and cell assembly.
  • Familiarity with high-capacity electrodes and advanced battery materials.
  • Proficiency in electrochemical testing and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Openness to take on more responsibility.
  • Willingness to join an early-stage start-up.
