Geology Manager

We are recruiting for a Geology Manager to join a highly collaborative and forward-thinking team in Ontario.

Reporting to the VP and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team you will oversee all functions of the mine Geology and Resource Definition Team departments. You will be responsible for a group of appropriately skilled professionals and business partners to grow and optimise the business. Your leadership, operating and technical experience will include behavioural based safety programs in a complex mining environment, with the ability to influence many stakeholders and deliver business requirements.

This role is offered on a residential basis.

About the role:

• Manage and oversee the Geology activities of the mine, taking into consideration short and long-term requirements to deliver the budget. Ensure appropriate systems are in place for ore controls, reconciliations and resource estimation;
• Support Reserve Growth and the Life of Mine Plan as well as being the competent person for the Reserve & Resource process;
• Guide, develop and coordinate the Geology team towards achieving the operation's strategic goals and objectives to maximise return through effective planning, management and monitoring of activities;
• Manage and oversee the development of local gold deposit models and exploration methods by coordinating and guiding the preparation of exploration strategies and plans (inclusive of physicals, costs and potential outcomes) to ensure effective exploration spend while meeting strategic goals;
• Ensure strong contractor management in all areas of Safe Production to deliver performance targets;
• Demonstrate strong commercial and business improvement acumen by identifying opportunities to enhance sustainability through innovation, projects and cost strategies.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor of Science in Geology, an Honours Degree in Science Geology would be highly regarded
• Significant and relevant leadership experience with exposure to underground mining & exploration, Resource and Reserve estimation, change management, budgeting and the regulatory environment
• Experience being a member of a Site Leadership Team
• Ability to support and drive an inclusive culture that supports the company culture
• Demonstrated experience in development, career progression and performance management of personnel.
