Based: South Yorkshire

Area Covered: UK

Package: £60,000-£100,000, 25 Days Holidays

An exciting opportunity has arisen with one of our clients for a 6-12 Month Interim Operational Change Manager - High Value/Aerospace Metals and Value-Added Services including Machining to be South Yorkshire based and to cover the UK.

The business is a forward-thinking organisation that are technically strong and have a strong and well-respected brand. The company are part of a multi-million-pound group who set the standards within the market with their exceptional and wide-ranging product range and on-time delivery service. The main aim of this role is to deliver operational process and culture change.

The company has recently merged with another business which has led to a sharp increase in the activity from goods in, stocking, cutting to despatch plus recruiting has been challenging also. The interim period has not allowed to properly carry all process and culture changes required by senior management, so a talented individual is required to deliver the required changes using a lean and project-based approach. The candidate should not shy away from getting their hands dirty and spending a lot of their time on the shopfloor.

The ideal candidate will have strong Operations and Change Management expertise in a middle or large size production or distribution environment. The company would be happy to look at someone with a background in Aerospace, Automotive or another form of Engineering or Precision Engineering. They would also be interested in someone who has worked in a senior capacity running a Manufacturing or Distribution business and has a good understanding of processes, including S&OP

As the Interim Operations Manager, you will be responsible for circa 55 employees, mainly on the shop floor and you will also have 3 direct reports which includes an operations manager, commercial lead and a planning and technical lead. You will be measured on improving safety, productivity and efficiencies and helping to oversee and instigate a big culture change within the facility.

They require someone who is a strong man manager who can put processes in place but is also somebody who will 'get their hands dirty' and show the team how it is done in certain situations. They also require someone who can simplify processes also and again can help with a shift in culture. They also need someone who has the ability to collaborate and brings a real presence on the shop floor and who can influence change.

The client is looking to recruit someone who can help grow and develop the business and this role could potentially lead to other projects and assignments in the group beyond the initial 6-12-month period.

The ideal candidate must have strong Operations and Change Management expertise in a middle or large size production or distribution environment. Failing that, the candidate must have experience in Aerospace, Automotive or another form of Engineering or Precision Engineering. They would also consider candidates who have worked in a senior capacity running a manufacturing or distribution business who has a good understanding of processes, including S&OP.

The company require applicants who is decisive, commands respect, is direct and can set the standards expected across their team using coaching and mentoring skills. They also require someone who can instigate change quickly, are hardworking, organised, adaptable and flexible.

The Key Selling Points about the business and the opportunity overall are it is multi million pound privately owned group but at the same time, it is in no way a corporate environment. Also, this candidate will be supported in the role by a central team of technical experts. Plus, as previously stated, if you make a significant impact within this role, there will be other projects, assignments and roles that could become available for you to move on to.
