Our client is one of the leading meat processors in the United States and are at the forefront of Innovation, Food Safety and Operational Excellence. We are now actively recruiting an experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager for their plant in North Carolina on the 2nd shift.

The Role

  • Reporting to the Plant Manager, with dotted lines to the Corporate Food Safety Manager and Corporate QA Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Plant Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department to provide safe, high quality products that meet customer expectations.
  • As part of the Food Safety / Quality Assurance team, you will conduct routine sanitation checks and ensure that HAACP and USDA regulations are strictly enforced.
  • You will provide technical expertise to track product from start to finish, and develop corrective actions when needed.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the business is able to safely deliver the best products to customers and consumers.
  • This role has the overall accountability of ensuring the food safety system is properly written, validated, documented and implemented as directed to ensure USDA and FDA regulatory compliance and the production of safe and wholesome products.
  • You will be accountable for the plant's Quality System and must provide solid leadership to achieve company, plant, and department goals through various management, evaluation and improvement skills and strategies that improve overall quality and profitability.

The Person

  • You will hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have 5+ years of experience in Food Safety / Quality Assurance
  • You will have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a position of leadership in a similar role
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of quality assurance principles, food science and meat processing, SPC and statistics; preferred.
  • You will have knowledge of various pathogens and microbes associated with food production.
  • You will have hands on experience conducting microbiological testing of meat and poultry products.
  • You will have comprehensive knowledge of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, and SSOP requirements.
